Definately interested in a 954, any issues I should be aware of? I am planning on putting serious mileage on this thing. What kind of gas mileage do you usually get? Will a PCIII net better mileage. I know it's a honda but how's the longevity of this bike??

There was a steering head recall on the 02 954. It only affected a small number of VINs. If the bike you find was affected by this recall, make sure the work was done.
<DISCLAIMER>My house is at 6500 feet. Most of our rides are at that elevation or above. These bikes seem to get better mileage at high elevation (they also make less power up here). We do a lot of track days, so our street rides are very sane.</DISCLAIMER> I get close to 50 MPG on most street rides. Even spirited rides result in 45 MPG.
My 02 954 has a PC-III. It doesn't seem to affect mileage, just smooths out the fueling at lower RPMs.
Its a Honda. It'll last a long time if you take care of it.

Do you think it will be comfortable for a 6'3" er like myself. I don't mean comfortable like a goldwing, just better than a 05 gixxer thou.

i'm 6'4" and 210 and the bike is ok for comfort but the seat kills the backside. such a minor swap and it is great all round now. went with a corbin but other companys make them to.:D

I'm 6'3" 190 and think the 954 is pretty comfortable, 300 mile days are easy.
A lot of people complain about the seat, but it doesn't bother me.

I am 6'5" and 250 and I have no problems with my 929 on long rides. Sure the butt gets a little tired, but nothing that a Corbin or Sargent couldn't allieviate.

Damn you all are big mofos. Well, erm, I can't help out with sizing the 929 or 954, but my 900RR fits my 5'8" 140 lbs butt perfectly... :D

as were measuring sizes here, i'm 6'4 and 96kg's (about 220lbs in yank speak i think) and i'm fine if i can move around. two up is horrendous.
anyway back to the first part of the thread. the 954 is standing up very well over time compared to the same year models of the competition.
no major probs that aren't the same for all 3 to 4 year old bikes

6'4"-210lbs----rode my buddy's 954 and it was comfy with the corbin seat he has.

as for two up it is ok but the wife complained after a couple of hours about being cramped. got her a corbin to and she said its great now. ride for long streches most ever was 9 strait and i think i will never do that again. could not walk for two days and still had to ride back.
i find if passangers complaing about the position ask them how bad their legs will hurt when they walk back home:D

Well, I'm 196cm and running it with a stock seat, but with adjustable rearsets. Didn't have any problems with 700km a day...
