Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone has had the problem with their 929 forks where the main shaft would pull through the bottom clamp and loosen the front forks. It stays tight for a while then pulls loose again which would indicate that the big bolt it pulling out of the bottom clamp. also do you guys know if there is a company that offers both upper and lower triple clamps as a set? I can only find the vortex upper. how can i fix this. Is buying a new one the only solution. there are no visible cracks on the parts either.
thanks

never even seen that before i would say you lower triple is trash.
i have not seen a full set of triples that come with the shaft yet usualy you need to reuse your old one. interesting...must be cracked or the steering head is jacked up.......do you stunt the bike? there is a documented problem with the frame neck on the 29/54.........

It could be that one or more of the bolts has been over torqued and the threads are stripped (or near to stripping if it can still be tightened a bit). Most engineering companies should be able to fit a helicoil thread insert to repair it. A new, larger thread is cut in the hole and what looks like a spring is wound into this. The original bolt can then screw into the inside of this "spring". (Not sure if you now about them!!). Only attempt this if the casting is big enough to be safe with a larger hole, it won't be much bigger but you don't want it to fail!!!!
Another possibility is that one or more of the bolts is too long for the hole. It would feel tight as it hit the bottom but would not necessarily be clamping the fork leg. If possible take a bolt out from each side and compare them.

Do you have that document?? I would like to read up on this, as I am very interested in being able to wheelie the bike, but if I can **** up the frame easy, I wouldnt bother. Ill just wait untill I can get a 1KRR :D

don't have the document...but i will see if i can find it again......the weak spot is the neck itself the aluminum is to soft and distorts after a while.....faster with wheelies and stoppies......the only fix i know of is to have new bearing cups made from billiet and welded in....then you will need to heat treat the frame again to get the strength back.....wouldn't wheelie a 1000 rr either they have a swingarm and support arm weld issue.....want to wheelie somethin get an older 900 or a gixer....yes i said gixer...wheelie those and bust them up get the garbage off the road...hehe
