I just got a new Icon Mainframe Halo for the wife. I've only put a few miles on the thing as I wore it to and from work so far. This is to replace her helmet I wore during my accident so I''m not sure how much time I'll get on this one.

First off, the thing is light. Very comparable to the more expensive Arai, Shoei and Suomy models I've tried. The finish may not be as good as the more expensive models but the fit is great. It seems like I have a larger viewable area through the visor. The front of the helmet is longer than most others and it gives you plenty of space between you mouth/nose and the inside of the helmet.

Internal webbed pockets will hold your radio speakers without having to remove the liner to mount them. Seems as quiet as my Arai RX7-RR3 but is much lighter than the Shoei XSP-1. It uses a classic notch style visor system, and it's easy to change from a clear or tinted shield.

More to come as I'll be doing a more detailed review on my site after getting some more miles on it.

Come on Panda, you can't make a statement like that and not give an explanation as to why you feel this way.

I have the yellow model of this helemt and love it. I have only owned a HJC prior and worn a X-11 Shoei. I personally like the ICON better than the Shoei. The ICON is not as noisy as the Shoei but not as quiet as the HJC. The HJC is almost too quiet, like wearing ear muffs. The ICON has a great ventilation system.

I was just curious, there's a lot of dodgy Chinese cheap lids being sold in Europe just now. The French have busted a few of them for sending helmets to get CE approval that are significantly different to the actual products in the shops. The Italians have discovered that the visors on one of the biggest new brands we get here from China are sub stanadrd too. Sooner or later shit is really going to hit the fan for someone!

I'm not saying anything about the Icon gear, I just haven't heard of it and I've been selling motorcycle clothing for a good few year.

They are a new company, the helmets are made by the same company as the HJC helmets designed by Icon of course. Which I read somewhere but don't remember where at, but i read something about the two main guys behind the Icon company where orginally from J&P Cycles and HJC, but don't remember if it was a trustworthy source or not

How would you rate them next to an Arai Quantum?

I bought the Mainframe in matte black a couple of months ago and really like it. As has already been said, it is light and quiet with a great vent system. Had a few HJC lids in the last 18 months or so. Seems to be a good product; I only have one complaint- The distance from my chin to the front of the face guard is pretty far and my Chatterbox microphone's VOX setting needed to be much lower. Installed a NOJ Quiet Rider Deluxe to seal off the road noise and no longer have that problem. Is a little hotter inside the helmet, but not unbearable.
