Just to let everyone know, the Zone crashed the other day and we lost all the attachments. You can see them, but unfortunately you will be unable to open them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yeah, but if we hot link it, where will the file be saved so the link can direct the viewer?

The file will be saved where ever it's being linked from.

Say I want to show some new pictures of the turbo setup. I upload them to a hosting site like www.photobucket.com or www.imagespace.com. Then I take the link to each specific picture, put an image tag in front & back of it, and post it here. Like <img>www.photobucket.com/66droptop/whatever</img>. But instead of "<" you use "[".

But on this board, you have to upload them to the site, which uses the site's bandwith. Not that I really care about that, because I'm not paying for it. But it's a pain in the ass to have to upload pictures AGAIN and only be able to put something like 5 at a time per post. So I don't even bother to waste my time. So the pictures I've taken will go up on every other board except for this one.

Also, have you ever seen a pretty funny picture on another site or forum? Ever wanted to just post it here? Well instead of just putting simple image tags around the picture's link, you have to save it to your computer, upload it to the rrzone, use the little paperclip icon to get it in your post, and then hope that people have enough interest to click the miniature thumbnail and PRAY that the attachments part of this board is working.

I like the information on this board, but holy crap it's the most boring bassackwards visual format I've ever seen. :D

We used to be able to use image tags on here a while back. How come we can't now? Why did the board devolve back to 1994?

Sorry for the probles...

We had set aside 850 MB of disk space for the site. When we surpassed that, the database got corrupted. We are cleaning house now and trying to free up some space. The loss of all the attachments should help a bit. :(

Oh, and attachments should be working again. Sorry, this thing hit at a really bad time for me... I was unable to give it the time it needed so it went broke for a few days.

BK, don't sweat the small stuff and we all know if we really think, it is all small stuff.
Thanks for the dedication and work.

Remember the Babes on Bikes (http://www.rrzone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2237) thread? (Actually, it's still down, but use your memory) We had like 10-16 photos per post, if you can remember that... There is no 5 image limit, that's only for the smilies. Just FYI.

The paperclip is the secret. You go to manage attachments, upload all gazillion of them, then type, and when you want to insert one, click paperlip/image name and it puts a code in. Simple.

And hotlinking from other sites slows the pages down. Considerably. I love the way it's set up here. I'm sorry you don't, and if that's gonna keep you from posting your turbo pics, so be it. Not our loss. :D ;)

I don't experience any lag when pages are loading. Takes about half a second and it's good to go. But if you want to compare the amount of time required to just load a single page along with pictures to the time it takes to load a page with thumbnails AND the time it takes to click on them and have them each seperately load, then embedded images are so much quicker.

And if someone is on here with a 14k modem, they can always turn the images off in their board settings. Well, at least you can on any other board. Then the page will load just as quick as it can, and the images are simply links. Problem solved.

Best of both worlds, and everybody is happy.
