TO THOSE WITH REG ISSUES AND OTHER BAD CONNECTIONS AND SUCH!!!!

my new boss works for rousch racing as his primary and the shop for his secondary.

a man with 30 plus years working for rob muzzy, vance n hines, kawasaki, etc etc.

i asked him to give me the skinny on why i burn my wires and why the regs go out alot.

his answer was BAD GROUNDS!!!!! the hondas use a small ass green wire for a ground......to small for the job.

make your own ground wires on as many switches and lights and regs as you feel up to making......use something like 16 or 10 guage wire.

ground to the batt or a minor frame bolt and most of the problems will go away forever.

make your grounds as short and as fat as possible.

see even i can be taught.

It is safe to assume that any green wire is the ground on any connections I find/want to replace? No chance that somewhere there's a green that's a positive, correct? Just want to make sure before I mess with it. Thanks in advance.

no assumption the green wire is ground in ALL hondas since 89 or 90.

just be carefull do one system at a time and check to make sure EVERTHING still works normaly.

Also watch out for the anodizing on the frame since it acts as an insulator. An ohm meter reading from your subframe surface to the engine ground point will supprise you. Good tip on the ground wires. I would suggest that the best place to terminate all the ground wires is to the main bround bolt on the engine. That was there are no circulating ground currents (loops). So far I have bedded the regulator with heat sink compount and added a ground strap to the subframe at the regulator bolt. I think I will upgrade the regulator ground wire next since the regulator is the component that handles the greatest amount of current. I notice my regulator connector is discolored by heat. Cam.

thats awsome dennis, thanks.

This is something I delt with all the time, So I need to make better grounds. because when I coated my frame. lol I had no grounds. OOPS
