Just ran the 06 at a Wed night street meet.
Had a lot of trouble with wheel stands and wheel spin but had a ball anyway.
Managed a 10.22 @147mph.
Has anyone been down recently with standard susspension settings?
If so what times were achieved?
lowering link and strap to be fitted this week so we will see how much improvement tht amkes.

How much spray did it take to get 147mph?

Mis-read the time sheet it was 141mph not 147mph.
when you say "spray" what do you mean exactly?

How much NOS did it take to get such a good trap speed? You didn't do that on a stock bike...

(That's what he's saying)

No spray involved but bike is not strictly stock.
Has power commander, DNA filters and Akrapovic full race system.
Otherwise just as it comes from the shop.
I hope to get into the 9's with a strap and lowering link and maybe a gearing change. 150mph + is the target for B/Street bike over here.
Track record is 9.39 @ 153mph held by a 2004 ZX10R with similar mods.
No swing arm mods are allowed and street tyres are required for the class.
Internal engine mods are allowed but OEM cylinder block and heads must remain. No lock up clutches either.

Managed 10.17 @ 144mph. Still having a lot of trouble with wheel spin though.
Any suggestions on how to stop it would be appreciated??

15 psi in the rear. 1-2 second low speed burnout in the dry, just enough to clean the tire. Little to no smoke. Huge ass burnouts only make traction worse as DOT tires get greasy when hot...
Tip: stay out of the water while spinning, you're just flinging water everywhere and it usually drips right back on the tire or on the track surface in front of your tire. I just roll through the water to get the tire damp, once it starts spinning you don't need any more water.

Thanks for the info.
So far I have only dropped the pressure to 20 psi so I will try going lower.
I usually do a short dry 2nd gear rolling burnout so I might try 1st gear and keep it short.
The worst of the wheel spin is at the top of third gear which really unsettles it from then on and if I short shift I lose 1 to 2 tenths.
The first open meeting for the season is this weekend so hopefully they will do a full track prep and get some race rubber down after the off season.

I never go into the water box. I just put the new Shinko 003 Ultra Sticky tire on my 900. I do a good dry burnout in 1st. Do a good dry hop and then stage. I have no problem spinning at all and as soon as I go into second gear I hit the Nitrous and I still do not spin... I leave the line at 6800 RPM`s and Slide the clutch as you launch and it should help. You do need to drop the tire pressure. I run mine on 12psi.

DAMN. :reallyscared I kept my tire pressure normal (I thought - did I let some air out when we did the drag night, Rob? I don't think I did...) and didn't notice any wheelspin... And I was running my current tires, Bridgestone BT012s. Then again, I only got an 11.3 and am fully stock in engine, maybe that's why? (My first and only time thus far) Dang, 12psi? That's like a third of what it should be on a normal setup... Maybe it was spinning and I just didn't notice, it didn't feel like it was losing traction though, I'd think I'd notice.

What RPM were you leaving the line at? Still got the time slips? Check your 60ft times. High 1.7s is as low as I can go without the front being up or the rear being next to me. I generally cut 1.8s and some low 1.9s.

I bleed mine down a bit as needed. I try to run normal and adapt as traction requires. I also generally try to stay away from burnouts. I usually have problems with the front in the air before I have problems with the rear breaking loose. Unless we're talking about rain. Then the rear gets blown off in 6th gear at partial throttle.

The biggest thing is NEVER touching the water box. The water box is for vehicles with slicks. And for ricers to ruin the track. Vehicles with treaded tires just pick up water and sling it around. A burnout on the bike is cake. Water isn't needed.

I don't recall having traction problems in 2nd gear or higher, but I've had problems in 1st plenty of times. Some times 1st can get sideways. And once I went to leave the line and nothing happened but a lot of tire smoke. I thought I finally destroyed my clutch. But losing 3rd? That's impressive.

Thanks for all the info guys.
I will try the lower pressures and the Shinko is on order.
I think the track prep has a bit to do with the lack of traction from the 660' mark.
I will let you know how it goes next time out.
