ok,
first remove the seat. then locate the black 3-pin connector that is by the battery. this is shown in the first pic.
next, get a bit of wire or make an on off switch that has the correct terminal fittings at the ends. this is what pic 2 shows, this is my homemade tool that works on most of the bikes.
once this is all connected (two wires, one to the green the other to the brown wire in the connector)
turn the engine stop switch to run, turn on the bike but do not start it.
let the bike cycle and read the codes.
if your red light comes on then goes out after 3-5 seconds then comes back on and stays on your switch or wire is not connected to the wires or in the case of the switch the lever needs to be flipped.
the end result is the light should come on then go out then start with the codes (time to codes is 3 seconds from on-to-off-to-code)
if your light comes on and immediatly starts fast flashing...there is nothing wrong.
the way to read these for numbers is: light on 3 seconds, light off, then quick flashes from 1 to 9.
example 3 long flashes 5 short flashes equals 35 for a code.
long flashes = 10 each
quick flashes are how ever many in between the long pauses.
if your light comes up looking like mine....leave it alone.
