Hi everyone. In the middle of my streetfighter conversion and want to fit an usd front end. I have heard that a front end from a 954 Blade will fit straight to a 96' Blade with no problems using the 954 yokes etc.

Can anyone confirm this and how easy it is to do? A step by step kind of guide would be great.

Are CBR RR3's the same as a 954? There is an RR3 front end for sale and want to know if this is the right one?

If this front end will fit how easy is it to fit risers to the top yoke to take renthal fat bars?

Also I have a SSSA with a VFR 800 5 spoke wheel. What 5 spoke wheel and discs will fit to the 954 front end, if there are any?

A lot of questions but thanks for looking.

Lucky bastard.......on the swingarm I mean!

O.K. to say this. I have done the swap on the front end as did others here but I will post up.

It is easy as 123.

1. Remove all old frontend components to include the bearings and races (easy just tap on the races and they come right out of the neck).

2. Buy new bearings for ANY CBR900RR, CBR929, CBR954. The only difference is the 954's (all of the 03's and some 02's) had tapered roller bearings, not ball type bearings. So when you get the forks you can make the decision whether to get new tapered or ball bearings. Get just the bearings from honda, they come with the races and everything else. If you get the ball type, and the 954's had the tapered, you need to have the shop remove the lower race and press on the new race on the stem.

3. Bolt everything in place as the old came out, and follow the book on torques.

Now on the wheel. The 929/954's have a different size axle. SO you need to get the bearings for the 929/954 front wheel from the honda shop. Don't worry the outside diameter of the bearings are the same. Now you have two options on wheels. Sime went with the 2000-2001 RC51 wheel that is six spoke. I went with the 02+ RC51 wheel that is five spoke. I did this to match up to the VFR8 rear 5 spoke wheel. I will eventually get the sssa on the back with that wheel, eventually!!!

Then all you need is a set of 929/954 rotors and it all bolts on. BUT, you need to "woller" out the inside "ring" where the axle tube goes thru on the RC51 wheel, to accomodate the larger diameter axle tube required by the 929/954 setup. Then trim off less than 1/16" inch of length off the tube. Put the bearing in one side, slide the tube in and put the bearing in the other side. Then you need to have two new collars made to center the wheel in the forks/calipers. Once that is done, you are done.

See easy, just time consuming. Someone else has the spacer/collar measurments from the ones they made but I don't.

Laters.

And again, I am jealous, I have been looking for a good priced VFR750 94-97 SSSA for a while!!!

Laters.

When I put the 6 spoke RC51 2000/01 front wheel on my 954 front end, the wheel needed to move over to center the rotors in the calipers. I believe it was 1.5mm, and I think it was to move the wheel to the right, but I can't remember!

I had a machine shop make me two new spacers out of brass. I gave them the old spacers as templates.

BTW, I really like the look of the 6 spoke front with my 5 spoke VFR800 rear wheel:

If this front end will fit how easy is it to fit risers to the top yoke to take renthal fat bars?

The standard top yoke on the 929/954 will not take risers without a lot of fabrication, so the thing to do is buy a SP1 or 2 top yoke & it slots straight on the 50mm forks without a problem which then gives you a nice flat surface to fit the risers:V

Here' mine before fitting the riser kit:-

Do you guys know if the 01 rc51 forks and other bits will fit a 95 900rr. I thought I read somewhere that they were pretty much a straight swap but I can't find where i read that.

Nope. They're too short.

Plus, the rotors are only 320mm, whereas the 929/954 rotors are 330mm.
