Hi guys,

Just picked up a 954 radiator that I want to use with my 95 900RR. Looks like it will fit quite happily with very little modification at all (just the lower bracket mount needs to be moved across).

On my '95, the thermostat temperature sender probe for the radiator is mounted to the radiator itself, but the particular 954 radiator I have does not have a provision for the probe. I have since established that Honda made two different radiators for the 929/954, one with the probe and one without. Why the hell they did this, I don't know. California model by chance?

If you have the version without the probe on the radiator, can you please tell me where the temp probe is located then and on what side of the bike it is?

I'm thinking that I could braze on a bung to the flat part of the radiator to screw in the probe (like the Version 1 radiator). Hell I should even be able to use JB-Weld as that goes up to as they claim this product works well for radiator fixes, or I could get a short piece of aluminum tube (same OD as the existing rad tubing), and tap into that with the probe and put it in line with the radiator hose.

Thanks in advance for the info!
Cheers :)

Actually, I found out the answer. The temp probe is a part of the thermostat housing on this particular cooling system version.

I found a product that will definitely work for me: It is called HTS-2000 (http://www.repairaluminium.com/aluminium_repair.htm) and it is a very highly regarded aluminum (welding) brazing rod solution. You can use a mapp gas or propane torch to do the repair. Have a look at the product video....it looks like great stuff! I can set my temp probe right into the radiator.

It costs $80 for a set including about 35 18" rods. If anybody is interested in going halves, or buying some rods, let me know. I will be happy to sell some off as I won't need all of them even though I have a few things I can use with it! This stuff will beat the hell out of JB Weld!!!

Cheers!
