Hi to all.
This morning I tried to start the bike, and it smels like gasoline and found some gas on the floor. Iīve inspectioned it and found that there is fuel comming out from a plastic box behind the carburators, connected to them by a duct (just in the middle of them). I also found that the plastic box (that has two parts) seams to have some movement between both parts, just like if it had a couple of screws loosen. Iīve never seen this before Iīll take a look tomorrow, but fists I would like to have your opinion. ah, its a CBR900RRV 1997. Thanks in advance ! Take care

I dont know of any other fuel compartments aside from a hose running from your tank to your carbs. I would predict this hose is loose or cracked somewhere, and fuel is dripping down onto or into your airbox. Also, if you recently had it on its side, you may just be draining some of the over flow?
Pull the tank and inspect further. Might as well change your plugs if your gonna pull all that crap off anyhow. |

sounds like your filter is clogged, if you remove the airbox and start the bike you will see it funs ok. If you place your hand over one of the bowls it will spit fuel on you.

Thanks for the comments !
I took the fuel tank and air filter off. This one was dirty, so I tried to buy a new one, but Honda donīt have parts for CBRīs (can you believe it??). They only get them in 12 days if they are available at São Paulo. It seams they only have stock parts for motorcycles with 500 CC maximum (CB500 that is manufactured here in Brazil) Then I cleaned up the air filter with gasoline, and after that with water and detergent, leave it dry on the sunlight, then cleaned well with a carpet cleaner machine. I put all back in the bike. The leack was comming out from the hose that comes from the back of the carburators, and finishes in a black plastic box that seams to be a secondary air filter (it has a filter inside). I changed that filter that wasnīt good with a similar one and went to the highway to accelerate a little, and it runs fine now. I think that it had a floating level problem due to dirt in one of the carburators (gasoline in brazil is not the best quality) Now it runs fine and strong. thanks again! Take care

Funny I should see this post, last night the wife kicked me in the middle of the night saying 'What's the friggin gas smell!!" Course I was riding and got home late, so I got to the garage, and found the RR pee'd on the floor, gas puddle all around, got out the flashlight and tools, to find the fuel switch nut loose. The one that attaches the reserve switch to the tank.. tightened it up, and all is good..
Just FYI..

Is Your Carburetor Floats Sticking? Is Your Fuel Petcock Not Turning Off? Have You Tried To Turn The Fuel Petcock To The Off Position And See If It Still Leaks? Just Some Thoughts.
