Default oil lock piece in front fork

i've already had one fork disassembled for bout a week. so i was lookin at the microfiche for parts i'm gonna order (new o-rings, bushings, back up ring, oil lock piece). well bout the oil lock piece thats in the very bottom of the lower half....it won't come out. lol. how do i get it out. i've been soaking it with carb cleaner and it won't come out. all i know that holds it in is a oring...well it must have fused with the metal or something. any help plz. btw, i ordered a set of dust seals and fork seals from goallballs.com for like $35 shipped. they seem (or say that) their design works alot better and alot longer than stock. so we'll see.

This is a good Gixxerkiller question. I don't remember how I got that out on mine. Sorry.

    Good Picture Japanese.

Is it the Fork Oil drain plug that has a crushable washer on it at the
very bottom of the fork up inside the hole where the axle is held?

I took mine apart for probably the first time in it's 23K mi. life.

It was realy tight and very hard to get out.

Becuase of the materials of the fork leg and the allen head bolt, it was

very worrisome having to use that much OOmph to get it out.

    It came after some effort.

    Just my experience.

the whole fork from top to that bottom bolt came out easy. its just that that oil lock piece is stuck at the bottom and virtually no way to get it out. lol i don't have any pliers long enough to grab it and wiggle it around. errrr.

I'm guessing you've tried turning it upside down and tapping it against a piece of soft wood or hitting the bottom with a rubber malet?

umm all of that. it's been soaking in carb cleaner for like 3 days and i've tried some long pliers *not quite long enough tho* and still couldn't pull it out. idk...

I don't think the carb cleaner was going to help in any way.... first off, it would expand the Oring in the inside and removes any possible lube from the fork oil.... so it wouldn't slide in anyway....

I have an extra set of forks laying around if you want them. $50 will get em to you.

They are in great condition. They have been sitting in a corner of my garage for about 3 years so you would probably want to change seals and fork oil. Other than that, they are good.

Hello, I am into the same issue. How to remove a stuck oil lock piece from the 96/97 model? I have been heating the OD with a buthane torch (still in safe T range), then hitting more or less gently the bottom after soaking with W40 spray and still the bad animal is solid rock stuck.. anybody has solved this issue? Thanks
